*Vacuum is sent to the machine table through the gate valves. These are pneumatically actuated valves that are controlled electronically via the solenoids. The air pressure regulator has an air inlet port to connect to a compressor. There is also a pressure gauge on the regulator. Monitor the pressure and take note of it when the machine is in working condition, this way it is easy to notice when the pressure is incorrect. The gate valve filter is an item that requires routine maintenance in order for machine to function properly.
Gate Valve Diagnostics:
Step 1: Check functionality of solenoid – to check the function of the solenoid, have a helper at the back of the machine hold on to the solenoid while another person triggers the gate valve button. The helper should feel and hear the solenoid actuating, this allows the gate valve to open. If there is no feedback from the solenoid, there may be an electrical issue with the gate valve solenoid circuit. If solenoid is functioning properly move to step 2.
Step 2: Check air regulator pressure – if the pressure is below the normal operation pressure, there may be an issue with the air circuit. Check for leaks at the fittings and/or the lines. Check the air compressor for normal operation as well. If air pressure is good, move on to step 3.
Step 3: Check gate valve filter – a clogged gate valve filter could also impede the operation of the gate valve. Check the Gate Valve Filter guide for how to clean the filter, it is very easy.
